The annual PNA Observer Coordinators meeting was held on 4 February 2026 at the PNA Office in Majuro. Observer Coordinators worked together on key issues affecting observer operations on the FSMA and US Treaty fleets. In her opening statement, the PNA Office CEO referred to the observers as the “eyes and ears” of fisheries management who played a vital role in the success of the VDS, noting Parties’ pride in their observer program.

As usual, the meeting provided a convivial forum to discuss ways to continually improve the operation of the PNA Observer Agency and coordination between Party programs, as well as for networking and catching up with old friends and colleagues. The informal meeting style optimizes worthwhile discussion and provides advice and practical recommendations on the Agency operations. Recommendations from the meeting will be put forward for consideration by Party Officials at the forthcoming FSMA meeting in March.
