The Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) Office successfully hosted a PNA MSC CoC Trainers’ Workshop in Majuro, Marshall Islands, from 2–3 February 2026, bringing together PNA MSC CoC trainers from national observer programmes across PNA member countries. The workshop aimed to strengthen regional training capacity, harmonise the delivery of MSC-related content, and support the continued success of the PNA MSC Programme, which plays a key role in promoting sustainable tuna fisheries and maintaining international certification standards. In her opening remarks, the PNAO CEO reiterated and thanked the members for their excellent and continued work in making the Programme a success.
Building on outcomes from the 2025 MSC Trainers’ Workshop, participants reviewed and improved observer forms and training materials, ensured alignment of MSC training standards across programmes, and received updates on the PNA Chain of Custody Group and MSC certification processes. The workshop also promotes peer learning, allowing trainers to share best practices, experiences, and practical solutions to enhance training effectiveness and consistency throughout the region.
By hosting the workshop in the PNA headquarters in Majuro, the PNA reinforces regional collaboration and capacity development, while continuing to invest in strong institutions and people to support sustainable fisheries management and long-term economic benefits for PNA countries.
