Project Officer Electronic Monitoring (EM)

FIMS Inc is seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of Project Officer Electronic Monitoring (EM) for a period of three months. The successful applicant will be engaged as an Independent Contractor either in their own right, or through their private company (following acceptable company searches).

The purpose of the contract is to provide information to FIMS Inc for the development and integration of achieving a complete EM module in FIMS.

Fisheries Information Management System (FIMS) is a web-based system that consists of a suite of integrated modules that collects, stores and displays fisheries information. The EM module will play an important role in the capture and display of data in FIMS.

Electronic monitoring (EM) is the use of cameras and other sensors (e.g. hydraulic and rotation) on commercial fishing vessels to collect data and monitor fishing activity. The primary purpose has been for catch validation of logbook data in support of fisheries management along with effort and verification of fishing activity (time and location of sets).

Key selection criteria: 
Hold a completed Certificate or Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or Software Development or an equivalent qualification as deemed appropriate by FIMS Inc and Be a citizen of a PNA member country
